What's new in Sollestro
Last updated: August 2026
The road from the first AI video editor to today's video and photo release. Newest first.
What we are building now. An honest roadmap from a solo developer: no dates promised, shipped when ready.
- SoonHighlights: the best of your shoot. After AI Selection settles your keepers, an optional extra pass goes back over them and picks the strongest, most varied shots of the whole shoot, your hero set, and flags them blue inside Resolve, or writes a blue label plus 5 stars for Lightroom, Capture One and Bridge. Steer it from the brief ("15 highlights", or your own rules) or let the built-in judging rubric decide.
- SoonIn-app update notifications. Sollestro will let you know right in the app when a new version is ready, with a one-click link to download it.
- ExploringSmarter video tools are on the drawing board too. Watch this space.
If you installed Sollestro before 31 August 2026, please update. Re-download using the link in your Sollestro email and install over the top: your settings, cache, licence and API key all carry over. Everything listed under 3.0055 below is included as well.
- FixedSollestro would not open at all for some people. On certain machines it closed a second after launching, with no message. The cause is now known and fixed: it was being stopped by a problem loading DaVinci Resolve's scripting library. Sollestro now finds that library itself, and if it still cannot load it, simply opens with Resolve shown as "Not connected" instead of closing. Photo work through the Folder route never needed Resolve anyway.
- FixedOne unreadable file no longer stops an edit. If a single file in your analysis cache folder could not be read, AI Edit stopped with an encoding error, even though every clip had analysed perfectly. It now skips that one file, names it in the log, and carries on.
- FixedMac's hidden companion files are ignored. When a Mac writes to a drive formatted for Windows, or to a network drive, it quietly leaves small hidden files beside your own. Sollestro was reading them as if they were real, which caused the problem above and inflated photo counts in the Folder route.
- FixedThe newest Claude models work again. Picking one of the latest models could make AI Edit and AI Selection fail at the final step, after all the analysis work was already done.
- ImprovedIf it ever fails to start, it tells you why. Sollestro now saves a report you can send us instead of closing silently, and where the cause is your graphics driver it works around it by itself on the next launch.
- ImprovedClearer wording when a licence key is already in use on its maximum number of machines, with the step that actually resolves it.
Photo selection got a big trust upgrade. It sees more, tells you exactly what to check, guards against a missed moment, and learns your eye over time, so you can open the green pile and start editing.
- ImprovedSees more detail. Sollestro now looks at your photos at higher resolution, so it catches closed eyes and soft focus it could miss before. A new Preview Detail setting (Standard or High) pushes it further on the latest Claude models.
- NewConfident keepers, a small review pile. Every pick is now a confidence call: green keepers you can hand over without checking, a small yellow pile flagged only where there is a real doubt, and the rest set aside. Trust the green, glance at the few.
- NewDouble-check keepers. An optional second pass takes another look, with vision, at just your keepers, catching a stray blink or soft shot before you trust the set, and keeping the single best frame from a burst of near-identical shots. On by default.
- NewCoverage guarantee. Sollestro checks your keepers cover what the brief asked for. If a key moment is thin or missing, it pulls the best available frame back into your review pile, so you never lose a moment.
- NewLearn from my corrections. Change a few of its picks and Sollestro reads your edits back, sees where your eye differs, and updates your selection style so future shoots lean your way.
- ImprovedRespects your target count. Ask for a set number, like your best 300, and the green pile fills to about that, strongest first.
The big one. Sollestro now selects photos as well as editing video - and it's a proper, installable product with a free trial.
- NewPhoto Mode. Point Sollestro at thousands of photos and Claude AI keeps the best, sets aside the misses, and picks the winner of every burst - all from a plain-English brief.
- NewTwo photo workflows. Work inside DaVinci Resolve (green / yellow / red flags + a Keepers bin), or write XMP colour labels + star ratings straight to a folder for Lightroom, Capture One and Bridge - no Resolve needed.
- NewRAW support for photos - Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fuji and more.
- NewPrompt Builder. Describe what you want in everyday language and Sollestro writes the prompt that drives the edit or selection.
- NewLearn my selection style. Point it at photos you've already picked and it learns your taste.
- NewPer-genre knowledge (wedding, portrait, landscape, event and more) plus a cheaper Batch mode for large photo jobs.
- ImprovedAnalyse once, reuse everywhere - the analysis is cached and shared across video and photo, edits and selections, so you never pay to analyse the same media twice.
- ImprovedFaster, more reliable analysis - parallel processing, a persistent thumbnail cache, and resume-after-stop.
- NewWindows installer, licensing & a 14-day free trial. Sollestro is now a finished product you can buy and own. The macOS version followed soon after: one licence covers both platforms.
Faster, calmer, and able to remix finished videos - not just raw footage.
- NewEdited-Video Shot Mode. Drop in a finished, rendered video and Sollestro breaks it into its shots, ready to remix into shorts and reels.
- NewDestination bin. Put new timelines into any media-pool bin, not just the Master.
- ImprovedThe Stop button now interrupts AI Edit, cutaways and re-edits promptly - and keeps whatever's already done.
- FixedStability and persistence - your prompt, settings and splitter positions stay put between runs.
The first Sollestro - an AI editing assistant living inside DaVinci Resolve Studio.
- NewAI footage analysis. Claude scores every clip for content, quality and editorial value.
- NewOne-click AI Edit. A complete first-cut timeline assembled from your plain-English brief.
- NewInterview & speech editing. Finds the best soundbites and snaps cuts to clean sentence boundaries.
- NewB-roll cutaways. Lays cutaways over interview clips on a second track.
- NewBeat sync. Lands every cut on the beat of your music track.
- NewRe-edit. Regenerate just the shots you want to change, not the whole timeline.
- NewPro camera support - BRAW, RED, ARRI and more, via proxies.
- NewLive Claude model picker, in-app cost tracking, and analysis caching.
